Dad's first entry

Hello, little one, this is your dad.  I'm at work right and was just thinking about you.  We've been working on your nursery and preparing for your arrival.  You are making it hard on us to pick colors because you don't want to show us if you are a boy or girl yet.  Hopefully you will help us out during the next ultrasound.  Hope everything is going okay in there and we are so happy the tests came back negative.  I've made a recording of your heartbeat at home that I will let you listen to one day.  Hope you liked the Indian food your mom had on Saturday (2/10/2007), it was a bit spicy.  I sure did enjoy it.  I'll leave you another journal entry soon.

Test Results in...

Last doctors visit, Jan 29, I had my blood drawn for my quad-test, which is for Downs Syndrome, Trisomy 18, neural defects and spina bifida.  They told me they would prob have results in fri, feb 2, and they would call me if they were positive.  I have been a nervous wreck waiting for these results, Im 31 and an increase at risk for everything.  I didnt hear anything friday by 430 so broke down and called them. I thought it was good that I hadnt heard anything but still....the results weren't back yet.  SO, after a long weekend of waiting, I had to wait until Monday.  I am working from home this week due to remodeling work done in my office.  Kids were on snow schedule, and working from home is WAY harder than working at work!  Man, so monday came and went, no phone call from doc, but still wasn't sure.  I was expecting a call, not necessarily cause something would be wrong, but the quad test has a HIGH false positive rate, so even if it comes back positive, after further tests there can still be nothing wrong.  Anywho, I convinced myself no news is good news, needless to say though, broke down tuesday at 430 and called anyways, it's always possible they forgot me!  To make a longer story longer, the results were negative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  you don't know what a relief!  I feel like this huge weight has been lifted from me!!  I am SO thankful that I have one less thing to worry about!!!

On the home front, had new carpet put in all 3 bedrooms today, covering our gorgeous hard wood floors.  Hubby got tired of hardwood!!  It looks great and the nursery is empty and ready to decorate!  I'll be getting the crib hopefully this week, then the rest shortly.  Still no ideas on decor and such.  Going to wait til Feb 19 and see if little bit will spread em' for the camera!!!!

Feb 19!

So the doctors visit yesterday was pretty uneventful.  I miss the early days when I got to have an ultrasound every visit!  My weight was so-so, gained 3 pounds in 3 weeks , blood pressure perfect, and peanuts heartbeat was strong.  Other than that, nothing.  They did bloodwork, my quadtest, which is the downs syndrome, trisomy, and 2 other things, like spina bifida and a neural defect.  I am SO praying everything comes back negative, I dont think my mind could deal with that worry!!  But, the good news!  I go back Feb 19 for another ultrasound and hopefully with full cooperation we can see what we're having.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that he/she doesnt have their legs crossed!!!  That will be the big diagnostic ultrasound when they look at the heart and brain and all that good stuff.  It stinks to be so excited about something, yet so nervous too!!!  The joys of parenthood!!!!
